Hey dolls,

Being a sucker for lipsticks i’m always on the hunt for special editions. There’s something about MAC’s collections that always manages to get me hooked. MAC’s Wash and Dry Collection, which released this May caught my eye instantly with it’s super bright and colourful packaging. Today I’m going to be sharing my thoughts on two of the MAC Wash and Dry lipsticks : “Tumble Dry” and “Steam Heat”.

About the MAC Wash and Dry Lipsticks :

MAC Lustre “Tumble Dry”:

The lipstick is describe as a “light peachy coral”, but goes on as more of a buttery nude with hints of coral. The lustre formula gives it a “semi-gloss” finish. It has hints of shimmer in it.

MAC Satin “Steam Heat”:

Described as “vivid tomato red” it goes on as a very pure bright red. The satin formula gives it a “semi-matte” formula though I did find it slightly glossy.

Price: $17.50 each, MAC Cosmetics

Swatches and thoughts:

MAC Steam Heat

MAC Steam Heat

Why I love it:

  • Super-duper pigmented.
  • The lipstick goes on super smooth.
  • Lasts about 3 hours (unless you decide to munch!)

Why I dislike it:

  • The formula is quite sticky

MAC Tumble Dry Lippie Swatch

MAC Tumble Dry

Why I love it:

  • The lustre formula is super hydrating.
  • The nude coral shade is very wearable and suits most skin tones.
  • Since I love glossy shades, the shimmer in this lipstick really amplifies the shine.

Why I dislike it:

  • Not as pigmented as the swatch. I was hoping the coral shade was a bit more prominent but this comes on as a nude-coral.
  • The finish is slightly buttery, making lips feel slightly greasy.
  • Lasted about 2 hours and then began fading due to the formula and shade.

The colourful special edition packaging is what I love most about this collection! Both “Tumble Dry” and “Steam Heat” are very wearable shades with unique formulas. I personally would use Tumble Dry as a day time shade or perhaps for an ombre lip look. Any red lipstick can pull together an outfit and “Steam Heat” is a definitely true to colour shade that would look great for more formal occasions.

What do you think of the MAC Wash and Dry collection?
